each vessel's outstanding cargo. A list shewing number of 505

packages of wine and liquors in bond at end of each month is sent

to the Imports and Exports Office and checked with stock books. In this connection a new form (see No.2 attached) has been supplied to meet requirements. It is impossible to supply a return showing the quantity in gallons and this is naturally explained by the facts that (A) through consignments or goods are shipped under through Bille of Lading for placee beyond Hongkong and (B) goods are consigned to firms under optional terms and must perforce be bonded. In the first case, the invoices are usually addressed to terminal port and particulars are not available. In the second, although such particulars are within the knowledge of the consignee, he prefers to avail himself of the benefit of the bonding system in King's warehouse and to defer payment of duty until delivery to t dealer or removed to licensed warehouse, hence the impossibility keepers of warehouses to know the contents of packages.

Liquors not claimed within seven days are stored to the order of the Steamers Agents and Bond number given. (A Register of Bonded goods is kept see Form No.3 attached) Practically the
